The Town of Cornelius is pursuing its first annual public art exhibition. This exhibition will go on display at Robbins Park this Spring.

Submission & Guidelines


How to apply:

  • Please email publicartcommittee@cornelius.org by 5pm on January 1, 2015 with the following information: 
    • 2-3 Jpeg images of the public art piece 
    • A completed submission form. Download the pdf here.
    • Current resume 
Selection Process: A panel consisting of public art committee members, art professionals, curators and citizens of Cornelius will vote to select the 5-6 pieces that will go on exhibit from April 2015-April 2016.

What happens if you are selected:
  • You will receive notification if your piece was selected or if the committee requires additional information on your piece by January 7, 2015.
  • You will be required to complete public art show paperwork and you will receive a $1000 stipend for participating in the show. 
  • If the Town offers to purchase the piece at the end of the show, the $1000 stipend will be deducted from the price of the piece and placed towards purchase price. 
  • You will be required to transport and install the art at your own expense. 
  • The winner of the Best in Show will receive $1000 prize!

Guidelines for public art submissions:
  • This show is only open to free standing art. Please do not submit proposals for murals or other pieces that must attach to a surface. 
  • Sizes may vary from 3' to 20' in height and 3' to 20' in width. 
  • Any materials may be used so long as the sculpture is prepared for weather exposure and will not deteriorate during the duration of the show. 
  • All art must not exceed the value of $25,000.
